Colloidal Silver for dogs?

Alright, so I have had my dog for a total of 7 years, I adopted him when he was 2. 2 years after I got him he started to get ill…about 6 vets, 5 different diet changes and more than 00 later, he is still sick. I did some experimenting (since no one can seem to help him) and took him off all of the medications he was prescribed and he is doing so much better. He has more energy, his eyes are brighter, his fur is growing back in and he actually gets out of his comfy bed to "socialize". So, I’m thinking that it’s an auto-immune issue or an over active oil gland issue (I have to bath him twice a week and his skin is almost greasy (and VERY stinky). I was going to start with the first with all natural medications like Colloidal Silver (an immune system booster) and Olive leaf extract (a natural anti-biotic) Now, I’ve taken it before because I used to have chronic bronchitis and colds and I’ve gotten so much better so I do believe that it works, the one thing that I can not find out from my vet or the doctor who suggested it to me is…Is it safe to give to my dog? Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks for any help!
He is a part hound/ Ridgeback mix, but my vet insists that he has chronic yeast infections (hence the smell) but all she wants to do is keep him on steroids which are only going to damage his liver and kidneys. He never smelled in the first two years that I got him and I wasn’t allergic to him them. Now I can’t even pet/hug him without getting itchy myself.

feeling so much anger towards mum about DOG?

I can’t even describe to you the anger i feel right now. basically my mum absolutely doesn’t like my dog because of something he cannot control. My dog drops a lot of fur, he is a jack russell terrier x wire haired so his breed basically requires him to drop fur. She is sick of the house being messy from the dog hair and insists the carpets are beyond saviour.I suggested i would vacuum the house every week but she said that the dogs hair flies everywhere anyway and the min its vacuumed up, more will come so there is no point. I already groom him regularly but as i said earlier, his breed is prone to shedding fur.

She said that her brothers in china always change dogs as they get older (my dog is currently 4 years old) and u should never raise a dog for its full life, its easier to just send it away to a shelter or someone else and get a brand new, cute little puppy instead. SHE INFURIATES ME SO MUCH with this comment, i am an avid animal lover and believe all animals deserve love and care, not just the ones that are cuter than the others and if u have raised a dog for 4 years, you DO NOT just send it away because it isnt cute or other ridiculous factors the dog cant help such as shedding fur. she says he is useless, has no value as hes a mutt, not pretty like collies etc. and a burden to our home. she said if she had a non shedding dog she would take it for drives in her car but because he sheds fur, she refuses to take him out and would rather him locked up at home if i cannot take him out for a walk. shes been talking with my grandpa to try and convince him the same and he lived in china for 30 years and has different beliefs to westerners (im asian australian) and he also tried to convince me about the beautiful dogs we could have instead of my dog and how cute they are.

BTW my mum is asian and when she used to live in china as a girl, they ATE dogs so she feels no sympathy or attachment towards them clearly. i have had so many huge fights with her this past week and it was mostly stimulated because the dog had jumped on the couch while we were away and because I (it was my fault) didn’t cut his nails short enough, they pulled out some of the wool in her grey jumper and she was pissed off. she started kicking the baby gate we have furiously until it was bent and threw my dogs bed off the balcony.

I have tried countless times to calmly talk to her rationally but nothing will process and she has threatened numerous times that i will come home one day and see the dog is gone. Ive threatened her that i will leave if the dogs leaves so she has to make a choice. i love animals, i love my dog and there is no reason he needs to leave our home because of a biological factor he cannot control. i am someone who doesn’t see the need to send my dog away simply because of something natural such as aging. she said this dog is worthless and there is no use keeping him. shes also made up a whole bunch of bulls**t excuses such as ‘the dog is affecting your studying’, ‘the dog is bad for your health and we’re all going to end up with fur in our lungs’ . TRUST ME do not tell me to try and speak to her calmly u dont know how many times ive done that, what can i do? wat do u think of my mum? I am so angry.

My boyfriend’s almost-3-year-old dog has become a maniac when he and I aren’t home. She went from scratching the carpet in front of the door to getting into the garbage, and after preventing these things from occurring again, she has now moved on to pulling things off of the kitchen counter, bookshelves, stove, bed stand, etc.

A red flag is that she is also anxious when we are at home. She paces from room to room, sits and gets up hundreds of times when we are hanging out. On more than one occasion she has chewed the fur off of her butt and tail from shear nervousness.

All of the responses talk about exercising, proper food, not making a production of leaving/returning, etc. We do all of these things, to no avail. It’s not possible to leave her outside, put her in a better room, or gate off rooms. We’ve tried these things too, which either leads to more destruction and/or isn’t practical. We’ve tried a metal crate, and she injures herself and the floor trying to get out of it.

In short, we are running out of options and are becoming more and more frustrated each day. As the weeks pass, her "outbursts" are becoming more and more destructive. She’s otherwise healthy, up to date on shots, etc.

I think we should start investigating medications, natural or prescribed, to calm her down. My boyfriend thinks its extreme and wants to try a plastic crate (she’d be in it for 9+ hours a day).
By the way, she is a shelter dog, adopted at 12 weeks. She’s allegedly a boxer/whippet mix, but I’m not so sure about that.

Cats on Furniture and Related Dilemmas..?

I have two cats. Previous to my boyfriend moving in, my cats had free reign.. I let them up onto the furniture. Well, my boyfriend came from a dog house and likes to lounge around on furniture more than I do, so we’re trying to (gently) train my two 8 year old cats to stay off.

I have purchased them a carpeted cat playground (three levels to scratch and lay around, about as tall as a medium sized bookshelf) and a fairly comfy pet bed, and they used to use them both (I’ve had the cat playground for about three years and the pet bed for about a year) but have now decided they prefer the furniture.

We usually spray them with a water bottle when we catch them, and I’ve tried guiding them to the cat furniture, but nothing seems to be working. I have also tried organic stay off furniture spray, but it doesn’t bother them. I prefer to stay organic and not use a lot of harsh chemicals in the house. Does anyone have any further suggestions?
P.S. –
My boyfriend is very supportive and loving, so I would appreciate no more comments about getting a new boyfriend. He does not mind the cats in the house and would never dream of asking me to get rid of them, but he does like to be able to lay down without a face full of fur. Thus the reason for him not wanting cats on the furniture. Their dog was trained from a puppy to NEVER be on the furniture, and she wasn’t. I was more looking for a suggestion for something the cats might like to lay on as opposed to the furniture…
