Shelter worker hates me?

First of all, i’ve been more than friendly to my local shelter.
I donate crates, food, harnesses, toys, & leashes as often as I can and have donated well over a hundred items this year alone.
I send a good amount of funds monthly.
I volunteer once(1)+ a week to groom, bathe, and walk the dogs.
I am friendly to all the staff and have never been rude or sharp.
I fostered 2 dogs in December(2009) until February(2010) and then another from the beginning of March(2010) to the end of April(2010)
That’s just in the last 6 months. I have fostered several other animals.. all have been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and trained at my expense. Also, I provided them all with wonderful care and I was responsible for screening the applicants and I made sure they all got a perfect home.

A specific woman has always disliked me. She works the front desk and whenever someone is interested in filling out an adoption application, foster application, or just wants to browse the pets, she has to take care of it.

She gives me dirty looks, makes digs about how I’m a wuss/can’t do any "real" work, and is generally hateful.
I can deal with it because it’s never been a big deal, as the man that works "over" her has always liked me, and he has approved my foster applications and etc.

However, lately I have been spending a lot of time with a absolutely wonderful Australian Shepherd. He’s a purebred–was submitted a couple weeks ago. He isn’t neutered, has had no vet work done, and is living with a foster family atm.
His vet appointment is set for next week if I’m correc.t
Of course said foster family is the woman who hates me and her husband.

I have sent in three applications saying I wish to adopt this dog.
There couldn’t be anyone better! I have only owned two dogs my entire life. Jack Russel terriers who lived 11 wonderful years and then passed away of natural causes. They were always healthy and happy.
I have volunteered with many rescues, and(as afore mentioned) have been very good to our local shelter.
I live in a large 3 bed 2 bath home, 2 stories, and have a 1/2 acre of yard fenced in for my new dog to roam. I am fairly active and could provide excersize.

The first time it happened, I asked her what the reason was for denying my application. She said that I work a 9-5, and that’s too long to be away from a puppy.
My original thoughts were WTF? Between vet expenses, food, various accessories, and training–I can’t support this dog (and live myself) off of no income.
But I explained, kindly, that I have a highschool aged neighbor who enjoys walking and I would hire him to walk my dog on my work days.
I sent in another application, and yet it was still denied.

What can I do to warm her up? I truly love this dog, and she’s being unfair to deny him a good home just because she dislikes me

humanizing pets?

what is your opinion of people who treat their animals as a human member of their family. feeding them at or from the table assuming that aminals do not have heat or cold tollerance, kissing them on the mouth, daily baths and teeth brushings letting them sleep on their bed and potty in their house and making the outrageous statement that the life of their pet is as important as the life of a person( an opinion that is not natural on a species level.)
almost all dogs were bred to work not to be pampered with the exeption of little lap dogs developed for royalty.if a dog were ment to be indoors constantly them they would have never survived this long. thats my opinion whats yours?
then* sorry
respect and obsession are two very different things.

i love my pets, but they are pets not people
The Jamsmith_Lds: i hope you got an A on that essay, you have said everything i beleive and was trying to say in a very intelligent way.
iceprincess: humans evolved and adapted themselves if dogs learn to build there own house and heat it themselves more power to em’

what pet should i get?

I do have school, I’m gone from 8am to 4 pm tues-fri and 4:30 pm on mondays. I am home pretty much the rest of the time and of coarse weekends. We have had many pets ranging from a quaker Parrot to a chinese water dragon. I love all animals, and am not sure what to get. i would like a dog. I would probably adopt from our local shelter so don’t tell me to because i would anyway. I do have a hedgehog. I don’t prefer cats, because they are natural predators. I don’t want a rabbit. I would prefer something under 20 pounds(weight). and dog wise, i know they need shots, spay/neuter, vet costs, essentials(dog bed, food water dish, ect.) I am just stumped on what i would like. any ideas?

Tribute to Dixie Miller

One of my best friends and family members went to rest on July 28th, 2009. This is a collection of still photographs that I took of her to celebrate her life. She was the best doggie anyone could ask for. She is a German-Shepard/Chow mix and she went to rest in the presence of my mom in her own bed right before noon. She went to rest all natural…on her own at the rip ‘ol age of 16. Dixie, I love you…small girl. The song that plays during the video is “All the Words” by Kutless.
